Katherine M. Weiss is an experienced litigation associate representing individuals and entities in the defense of professional liability and general liability claims.  A substantial portion of her practice is devoted to defending architects, engineers and land surveyors in actions involving complex professional liability, breach of contract, general liability, Labor Law, construction defect and wrongful death claims.  In addition to conducting and representing clients at depositions, she is skilled at oral argument and has successfully resolved matters through extensive negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.

Ms. Weiss is skilled in appellate practice, having successfully argued before the Appellate Division in a professional malpractice and breach of contract matter against a design professional.  As a result of her efforts, she obtained a dismissal of all claims alleged against the architect.
 

Prior to joining Kosakoff & Cataldo, Ms. Weiss was Assistant General Counsel for the New York State Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery in which she ensured that government-funded construction projects involving design professionals and contractors were implemented in accordance with applicable laws.

Ms. Weiss is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School, where she was a member of, and coach for, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society.  While attending Brooklyn Law School, Ms. Weiss was a Negotiation Champion for the FINRA/St. John’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Competition.   Ms. Weiss is admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Tulane University. She is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
