Michael Stanton is a seasoned litigator and a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Appellate Practice. He represents a diverse range of domestic and international clients in high-value business disputes, with a focus on complex commercial litigation, contract claims, business torts, and internal corporate conflicts, including partnership and shareholder disputes.

 

Since joining the firm in 2014, Mr. Stanton has earned a reputation for delivering strategic, results-driven counsel in high-stakes matters across multiple industries. He routinely advises clients on issues involving breach of fiduciary duty, successor liability, alter ego and veil-piercing theories, and securing emergency injunctive relief. His litigation practice spans both state and federal courts, where he handles every stage of litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal.

 

As the firm’s primary appellate practitioner, Mr. Stanton has successfully briefed and argued appeals in both state and federal courts. His notable victories include:

 

  • Mastrobattista v. Borges, 143 A.D.3d 475 (1st Dep’t 2016)

  • Board of Managers of the 125 North 10th Condominium v. 125 North 10th, LLC, 150 A.D.3d 1063 (2d Dep’t 2017)

  • Goldfien v. County of Suffolk, 157 A.D.3d 937 (2d Dep’t 2018)

  • Sutton Animal Hospital PLLC v. D & D Development, Inc., 177 A.D.3d 467 (1st Dep’t 2019)

  • Matter of Angeliki K., 183 A.D.3d 733 (2d Dep’t 2020)

 

Mr. Stanton’s success stems from his individualized approach to each case, tailoring strategies to meet the unique needs of his clients, whether the matter involves Lanham Act false advertising claims or complex breach of contract disputes.

 

In addition to his litigation and appellate work, Mr. Stanton is was the founding Chair of the Cybersecurity Practice Committee for the Suffolk County Bar Association, and is currently serving a three-year term as a committee member of the Commercial Law and Uniform State Laws Committee of the New York City Bar Association.

 

Mr. Stanton earned his J.D. from the William & Mary School of Law in 2008, where he was an award-winning member of the Moot Court team. He is admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He holds a Master’s Degree in American History and is fluent in Spanish.
