Susan J. Bereche joined the firm in 2023 after practicing as a litigator for much of her 30-year career. After graduating from St. John’s University School of Law in 1991, where she was awarded the St. Thomas More full-merit scholarship and
served on the Executive Board of Moot Court, she worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County. It was as an assistant district attorney that she participated in her first of several trials and successfully argued before the Appellate Division, Second Department, in favor of the People of the State of New York. She continued litigating in the civil arena after leaving the District Attorney’s office, ultimately trying cases in Supreme, Surrogate’s and Family Courts as well as before the Environmental Control and the Workers Compensation Boards. She submitted an additional appellate brief to the Second Department while working for one of two litigation firms where she participated in all aspects of commercial litigation. She most recently served as the Staff Attorney for The Retreat, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. She is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
